AUCKLAND AND NORTHLAND

Awards available from the Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust which developed from the Trust previously administered by the Auckland Branch, NZFGW.

The awards funded by the Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust are for women resident in the Auckland and Northland areas during the academic year and enrolled at The University of Auckland, the Albany Campus of Massey University, AUT University, Manukau Institute of Technology, Unitec, Northland Polytechnic, Te Wanaga O Aotearoa, Manukau or Whangarei, or Te Whare Wananga O Awanuiarangi, Auckland. Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Tressa Thomas Retraining Awards Each award is worth $1,500 To assist mature women to prepare to return to a profession or to take up work (paid or unpaid). 31 March and 31 July
Foundation Awards Each award is worth $1,000. To assist women, who have completed a Foundation Course at tertiary level and who have enrolled in full time study for their first degree or diploma at an approved institution to meet course expenses. 17 February
New Start Award Each award is worth $15,000 paid over 3 years To assist women from the New Start Programme at University of Auckland to study towards a degree 11 November
Final Year Bachelor with Honours Degree Award $6,000 To assist a woman in her final year of a Bachelor with Honours Degree 17 December
Postgraduate Diploma Award $6,000 To assit a woman to study for a Post-Graduate Diploma 17 December.
Masters Degree with Coursework Award $7,000 To assist a woman to study for a Masters Degree which has at least a 70% coursework component 17 February
Masters Degree with Research Award $7,000 To assist a woman to study for a Masters Degree that has at least a 70% research component 17 February
Post-Doctoral Research Awards $15000 To assist women who have graduated with a doctoral degree within the last 4 years to carry out research on a limited term project. Many use it to prepare further research for publication. 17 February and 31 July

CANTERBURY

CANTERBURY BRANCH NZFGW TRUST AWARDS - To be known as CFGW Trust Awards

Each year funding is made available for a series of awards for women. Conditions for these awards require applicants to be New Zealand citizens. If you are a student this will be shown on your academic record, so you need not attach documents. Other applicants however, must attach evidence of their citizenship, e.g. birth certificate or copy of NZ passport.

For mature students taking up university studies either full time or part time, at the University of Canterbury or Lincoln University. This can be for students studying at university for the first time, or those returning to complete a degree, after an absence of some years. This award will be granted once to any candidate.

Canterbury Branch Trust Awards $500-$2000 each Category 2 Undergraduate Awards
For students continuing an approved fulltime undergraduate course of study at the University of Canterbury or at Lincoln University, into 3rd, or subsequent years; such students should have a proven record of academic achievement.

For students continuing an approved fulltime undergraduate course of study at the University of Canterbury or at Lincoln University, into 3rd, or subsequent years. Such students should have a proven record of academic achievement.

Conference Presentation Travel Award $200-$800 each

Category 4 - Travel Awards for Postgraduates only

Conference Presentation Travel Awards are for graduates, enrolled fulltime at University of Canterbury or Lincoln University, to assist them to attend a conference and present a paper or poster based on their original work.

Applications must be received at least three months before the date of the conference. You may apply before your paper/poster has been accepted, but confirmation must be received before any award can be made.

Special Project Awards $200-$2000

Category 5 Special Project Awards

For women undertaking a special project, which should have a regional or local content or application. This category is open to a wider community of women, who can be, but are not necessarily, students. Applicants do not need to be associated with a university or other educational institution.

MANAWATU

Brenda Shore Awards Up to $15,000 To assist University of Otago women graduates to carry out research towards a PhD or Master’s degree related to the Otago area or to do post-graduate study at the University of Otago. Preference will be given to natural science graduates. 28 February
